A call to action to the whole of the UK to work with us to improve adult numeracy skills, transform negatives attitudes and ensure everyone has the essential maths skills they need for everyday life
What is the National Numeracy Challenge?
Our drive to improve the numeracy of adults across the UK
Around half the adult population have numeracy skills at the level expected of children at primary school and three quarters are below the target skills level for school leavers.
As well as improving performance, the Challenge also aims to transform negative attitudes towards maths and numeracy and to create a positive “can do” approach.

How can you get involved?
An interactive website which anyone can use at no cost, at home, work or on the move, to confidentially assess and improve their everyday maths skills and confidence.
An assessment of numeracy in your workplace, both in terms of maths ability and mindset amongst your staff, and an action plan to address any areas that need improvement.
This CPD accredited programme allows volunteers based in workplaces and other settings to join our network of Challenge Champions and support colleagues and friends in improving their numeracy.
We have started a project to trial different approaches to helping adults with the lowest numeracy skills.
