We’re taking part in Number Confidence Week from 2–8 November, and we’d love our whole school community to get involved.
The way we talk about numbers can make a real difference to children’s confidence. By using numbers positively at home and showing children how useful they are in everyday life, parents and carers can help children feel more confident too – and you don’t need to be a maths expert to help.
Simply noticing the numbers you use together – while cooking, shopping, travelling, playing games or following sport – can help children see that maths is useful, relevant and something they already use every day.
Number Confidence Week is also a chance for parents, carers and staff to build their own confidence too! National Numeracy’s free and confidential National Numeracy Challenge lets you brush up on everyday maths skills in your own time and at your own pace – whether you want to feel more confident helping with homework or simply using numbers in everyday life.
Want to get involved at home? Take a look at the Number Confidence Week page and sign up for free resources, practical tools and ideas to help you and your family feel better about numbers.
