Bouncing back with Number Confidence Week 2021

8 Oct 2021

Following the success of the first-ever Number Confidence Week, the campaign is back this November to help all of us be in the best position to bounce back after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Numbers can be intimidating. Nearly a third of Brits say they struggle with everyday maths, while over a quarter say they have struggled to understand the numbers relating to the pandemic.

Boosting number confidence is essential if the nation is to build back better from Covid-19. Gaining number confidence is the first step to gaining the number skills that help in everyday life; for getting into work, managing our money and helping our children learn. Feeling good about using numbers helps us take control and be better prepared to deal with changes.

We know that by improving number confidence, opportunities and life chances are improved for all. That’s why, between the 1st and 5th of November, National Numeracy is encouraging the nation to take part in Number Confidence Week. Supported by Founding Partner TP ICAP and Lead Supporters Santander and Experian, the campaign will be empowering everyone to start their journey towards better number confidence.

The campaign hub will offer a variety of resources and activities for all the family.

Next week we will announce an exciting new Ambassador who will be helping spread the messages of the campaign and taking part in our programme of streamed and live content. We will also be announcing the full schedule featuring tips and information from celebrity ambassadors, experts and inspiring real learners.

Thank you to National Numeracy's partners supporting Number Confidence Week 2021:

Founding Partner

“At TP ICAP, we know that numeracy is crucial in today’s world, not only for the success of our industry but also in enabling individuals to make better choices for their finances and careers. Our research has shown that low confidence with numbers remains a significant barrier for many, and often holds talented individuals back from considering a career in financial services. It’s important that we change that, which is why we became a founding partner of Number Confidence Week. Encouraging people to take steps to improve their financial literacy will ensure that people from all backgrounds feel empowered and confident to pursue employment opportunities in our sector, in turn enabling us to hire a more diverse range of talent, which is critical to our future success.”
