Peter has a lifelong passion for numbers – from baking and badminton to his accounting and finance studies – he is always counting, weighing or scoring something! For National Numeracy Day Peter will be showing budding cooks how essential number skills are in a special Cupcake Baking Fun video.

He will be encouraging children to get their hands in the cake mix and get their heads around measuring out ingredients to bake tasty treats for their family or friends. There will be a recipe and activity sheet too!

Peter says: "Numeracy skills are essential in so many aspects of day-to-day life. They help us manage personal finances and shopping budgets right through to even baking better cakes! Numbers actually helped me win Bake Off! Everyone can improve their numeracy skills, and National Numeracy is a great place for you to find number confidence and build these skills for a better life.”

Sam Sims, Chief Executive of National Numeracy, says: “We are thrilled that Peter has agreed to become a National Numeracy Celebrity Ambassador. Baking is the perfect everyday maths activity, and no one has made it look more fun or delicious than Peter! From measuring ingredients to thinking about size, weight and timings – we are sure Bake Off’s youngest ever winner will inspire the whole family to have fun with numbers.”

Peter joins our fantastic celebrity Ambassadors, Rachel Riley, Martin Lewis, Bobby Seagull and Katya Jones who all freely give their time and energy to help the adults and children in the UK get on with numbers so they can get on in life.
