National Numeracy's Ben delivering a workshop to parents at the front of a classroom

National Numeracy's parental engagement programme aims to support schools in developing their parental engagement strategies, in order to improve the confidence of both children and parents/carers in maths, and to help parents build a positive relationship with their children's learning.

Participating schools receive a package of support, including:

  • Family Maths scrapbooks and activities for all pupils

  • Staff training and support from a parental engagement expert

  • Becoming a Numeracy Champion training for school champions working with parents

  • Termly cluster meetings with other participating schools, led by National Numeracy

  • Access to the National Numeracy Challenge website for all staff and parents

  • One workshop offered to parents to explore their own attitudes around maths and support them in helping their children build positive attitudes to maths

  • Materials to communicate with parents about the project (eg. template letters home, social media posts etc)
