It’s Checktember! Find out how your number skills measure up

National Numeracy is calling on the nation to check their maths skills this September. We have renamed the month ‘Checktember’, and as part of this we will be encouraging everyone to go online and check that they have the number skills needed for everyday life and work.

Research released earlier in the year revealed a third of us (36%) wish we were better at maths and numeracy and 1 in 4 people would be put off applying for a job if numbers and data were listed as a requirement . This is where Checktember comes in...

Throughout the month we are encouraging people to sign up to the National Numeracy Challenge, a free service which helps people to check their level and get help to improve.  A score of 80 or more is roughly equivalent to a GCSE pass (Adult Level 2) but whatever your level, there are learning resources provided for free to build up your skills.

So far over a quarter of a million people have signed up to use it, and we’ll be sharing stories from individuals who have transformed their feelings about numbers. Including a few from behind the scenes at the National Numeracy headquarters!

Watch Kayla from National Numeracy talking about how she felt before and after taking the check-up.
