Compare the Market’s commitment to our programmes and enthusiasm shown has made a remarkable difference in promoting number confidence and positive attitudes towards maths. The volunteers have visited schools in Peterborough and London, delivering their inspiring 'My Maths Story' assemblies and supporting multiple 'Maths in the Real World' classroom sessions, reaching over 800 children – an extraordinary achievement from a growing and dedicated team.
Feedback from our network of Compare the Market volunteers was really positive:
"I loved the classroom sessions! It was a great opportunity to relate maths to things that students use every day, from Netflix to ChatGPT. It was a very rewarding session and it was amazing seeing how enthusiastic (and imaginative!) the children were during the session."
"I really enjoyed the session - it made me think harder about the subject and the impact I could have on young people by sharing my experiences."
"I felt really appreciated and would highly recommend this session to anyone with a passion for maths!"
We also had lovely feedback from the schools they visited:
Philippa Kennedy, Year 6 teacher and Maths and Music Lead at Alexandra Primary School, said: "Our children really engaged with having Tallulah in the class and loved hearing about her role. It was good to have a maths enthusiast telling children about why she loves maths and how it helps her to do her job. It went really well and the children were really engaged. Thank you."
