Our newly published report highlights how the programme is tackling negative attitudes towards maths, building number confidence, and supporting children in the communities that need it most. Thank you to all of our volunteers helping to make this all possible.

17,700+ children reached! Corporate Volunteering Year 3
28 Aug 2025
July 2025 marked the end of the third year of National Numeracy’s Corporate Volunteering Programme – and its most impactful one yet.
120 trained volunteers from 12 corporate partners and supporters delivered assemblies and supported classroom sessions in 109 schools, reaching more than 17,700 children across the UK.

Maths anxiety
Negative attitudes towards maths continue to affect millions across the UK. Many people still believe they are “just not a maths person,” leading to widespread anxiety and fear around numbers. At National Numeracy, we recognise that building a number-confident nation requires a significant cultural shift – one that begins with children and is supported by passionate role models.

Breaking down barriers
That’s why we’re proud to share the continued success of our Corporate Volunteering Programme, a cornerstone of our 2025–2028 strategy to tackle negative maths mindsets. Now in its third year, the programme is thriving, reaching over 17,700 primary school children across the UK in the last school year alone.
Thanks to the dedication of our volunteer community and the support of our corporate partners and supporters, we’re helping to break down barriers and build number confidence in schools and communities most in need.

The most successful year yet!
The third year of our Corporate Volunteering Programme has been our most impactful yet. It has empowered children with everyday maths confidence, developed the skills and confidence of our volunteers, and deepened our partnerships with committed organisations across the UK.
With thanks to our partners and supporters and the passionate volunteers who made this year possible, we look forward to reaching even more children in 2025/26. Together, we’re proving that everyone can be a maths person – and that changing the culture around numbers starts with one inspiring conversation at a time.
