This year saw the Number Heroes drawing competition return, but this time with a brand new prompt. With National Numeracy Day's theme for 2026 of 'Count On Your Community', we asked children across the UK: "How do people use numbers in your neighbourhood, club or community?"

There were huge prizes up for grabs
One winner from each category receives a prize pack worth over £1,000 for their school, full of resources, books and games to get everyone feeling like number heroes! Plus, each winning child and runner-up gets an individual gift voucher and certificate.
These prizes were made possible thanks to generous donations from Harper Collins, Learning Resources UK, Numberblocks, NumBots, Orchard Toys, Sweet Cherry Publishing, Times Tables Rock Stars and White Rose Education.
The competition was fierce
We saw almost 10,000 entries from children aged 3-13, including children and young people in receipt of Special Educational Needs support or an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) showing us how maths is a key part in all of our daily lives.
Whether for cake candles or climbing, cricket or your local council, numbers really are everywhere!
Celebrity judge Bobby Seagull chose the winners
TV’s Bobby Seagull, National Numeracy Ambassador and competition head judge, had the difficult decision of choosing the winners from thousands of entries.
Bobby said: "I’ve loved seeing the brilliant ways you’ve shown how numbers are part of everyday life in your clubs and communities. Your creativity has been fantastic; it's really shown just how vital numbers are to helping us all every day. Huge congratulations to all our winners!"
