This month National Numeracy were pleased to support Compare the Market’s brilliant event for children, “Numbers Made Simple”

The Numbers Made Simple event welcomed 58 children aged 4 to 12 for a full day of engaging, interactive maths activities. They focussed on how we use numbers in everyday life, from keeping score in football to counting plates for picnics.

Ursula and Katherine delivered an excellent My Maths Story assembly where they shared with the children how they use numbers in their jobs as well as hobbies such as baking and budgeting for their holidays.

We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from children and parents attending the day, one guest at the event told us "The assembly was engaging and well-pitched to the level, it really brought to life that maths is everywhere".

Other activities on the day included a Number Detectives scavenger hunt, entering the Number Hero Competition and activities from our Family Maths Toolkit

National Numeracy’s partnership with Compare the Market is a transformational, multi-year collaboration focused on improving number confidence for financial confidence. As Lead Supporters of flagship campaigns including National Numeracy Day and Number Confidence Week, and members of the National Numeracy Leadership Council, Compare the Market play a central role in driving national impact. The partnership goes beyond funding, combining shared expertise, advocacy and employee volunteering to help break down barriers to numeracy, inspire the next generation, and empower people with the confidence to make informed financial decisions in everyday life.

Well done to Ursula and Katherine for sharing their personal stories and examples in such an engaging way, helping the children to connect with maths in their every day and boost their number confidence!
