Actress and Loose Women star Denise is enlisting the help of some celebrity pals to get people nattering about numbers this May.

It’s back! The UK’s only nationwide conversation about numbers, the Big Number Natter, is here to help people open up about maths – love it or loathe it, everyone has something to say, including our ambassador, Denise Welch, and her friends!

National Numeracy Day is on Wednesday 21 May, but the Big Number Natter will take place throughout the month, with people across the UK chatting about how they feel about everyday maths.

Denise will be kicking things off by being open about her relationship with numbers in chats with TV presenters Ruth Langsford and Jenny Powell. It’s a subject that Denise has struggled with for years.

“I’ve always known I was terrible with numbers. But it wasn’t until I was older that I realised just how much my fear of them had shaped my life.”

– National Numeracy ambassador, Denise Welch

The Big Number Natter aims to inspire people to open up about their feelings towards numbers, to challenge stereotypes and to show how numbers are needed in everyday life.

We all need numbers, for bagging a bargain, supporting children with homework, getting on at work and much more.

This May, why not be inspired by Denise and join the thousands of people holding their own number natter sessions across the UK, by hosting your own conversation at college, work or in your community? And teachers, you could hold a Big Number Natter with your pupils at school!

You can also join celebrities and experts on social media by sharing your own number stories using #BigNumberNatter.

However you feel about numbers, by talking about them you may be surprised to learn that others feel exactly the same way.
