Congratulations to Maria Harrison, Associate Director at EY, who we are recognising as our Volunteer of the Month for June
Maria visited Wallace Fields Primary School in Surrey to present her My Maths Story assembly and support two Maths in the Real World class sessions.
Katie Sargeant, Maths Lead, said: "Maria was excellent. She was really engaging and was clearly able to convey her key messages to all the children, in the class sessions and the assembly. The children were asking insightful and mature questions, and this was as a result of Maria's approach to the session and being so positive with all things maths!"
Maria said: "I really enjoyed my afternoon and I was really impressed with the children, their questions and answers and I hope left them with an improved view of maths."
EY joined National Numeracy as a corporate supporter in 2024
With a commitment to creating a positive long-term impact in communities across the UK, EY has supported our inspiring volunteering programme in primary schools and driven impact through our national campaigns. EY’s efforts are helping to boost efforts to improve numeracy for equality and social mobility across the country and raising awareness of financial well-being and education through their activities as a National Numeracy Day 2025 Lead Supporter. A huge thank you from National Numeracy.
Well done to Maria, and to all our great volunteers who visited schools in June!
We still have a few more visits before schools finish for the summer and we look forward to meeting our next cohort of volunteers at our September training sessions.
If you know a school that would like to host one of our corporate volunteers they can find out more and apply here. If you would like to take part on our volunteering programme your company can find out more about partnering with National Numeracy here.
