Everyday maths skills help us take control of our finances, whether it's budgeting and saving or understanding bills and payslips. However, we know that low number confidence affects millions of people.
Building confidence with numbers doesn't just improve maths skills, it strengthens financial wellbeing, which is why Number Confidence Week is about showing how number confidence can lead to financial confidence.
We'll be highlighting real-life stories throughout the week to show how others have experienced number struggles and that improvement is possible.
Read on to learn about the fun, free ways we'll be helping adults and children to improve their number confidence across the week 3-7 November, including a very special live assembly featuring celebrity guests...
What's on throughout Number Confidence Week?
We'll dig deeper into the theme of Money Matters, tackling a different area each day, with the help of National Numeracy's fantastic celebrity Ambassadors and Champions:
- Monday: Overview of number confidence for financial confidence: Ambassador Bobby Seagull opens the campaign with his "Number Confidence Check-in".
- Tuesday: Young people: Rotimi Merriman-Johnson, AKA Mr MoneyJar, explores number confidence through the eyes of Black British communities, and Iona Bain tells us about navigating life with dyscalculia.
- Wednesday: Parents and carers: We host our star-studded exciting assembly with Barclays LifeSkills, and Denise Welch and Rachel Riley share some of their experiences and advice as parents.
- Thursday: Workplace: Numeracy Champion Angie talks about numeracy in the workplace.
- Friday: Confidence mindset: Dr Linda Papadopoulos helps us all break down the barriers to building confidence and facing our fears.
