The Budget could mean many different things to different people: whether you are employed or unemployed, have savings, children, own a property or run a car, it would be beneficial to know if you will need to recalculate your finances and what this might mean for your household income.
Many adults struggle with numbers, but help is available
At National Numeracy we know that many adults struggle with everyday maths and this can have a serious effect on how they manage their money.
This month, Number Confidence Week: Money Matters, inspired people across the country to take the first steps towards improving their numeracy skills and confidence.
Feeling good with numbers can make a real difference in how we manage our money. From budgeting and saving, to understanding bills and making informed choices, everyday maths skills help us take control of our finances.
You can still check out the free activities and resources for both adults and children, which were supported by the campaign’s partners, National Numeracy’s celebrity ambassadors and schools and organisations around the UK.
A free and fun way to improve your number confidence and skills
The National Numeracy Challenge meanwhile, is a free, online learning tool designed to help you improve your everyday maths skills and confidence. More than 600,000 adults have already registered!
It’s based on maths we use in the real world – at home, work or supporting children – and can be used on any device. It’s a friendly way to get started with your numeracy improvement journey and signposts to useful resources to help you understand where you went wrong.
Getting to grips with numbers can only be a good thing – not just for understanding the Budget, but for the everyday maths tasks we all need to navigate in life.
