National Numeracy is building number confidence in Wales
This year, National Numeracy is thrilled to be expanding its work in Wales.
A group of Welsh schools are currently participating in the Schools & Families Programme, funded by National Numeracy partner and Number Confidence Week Headline Supporter, Barclays LifeSkills.
In addition, earlier this year National Numeracy received a grant from the Welsh government through the Curriculum for Wales grant support programme.
The grant will allow National Numeracy to deliver its Schools & Families Programme in up to a further 90 primary schools, 45 of which have already begun training.
The programme works with primary schools to support families, so that pupils feel more positive about maths, and have greater awareness of the value of numeracy outside the classroom.
It also works with schools to increase parents’, carers’ and school staff’s own confidence with numbers, aiming to establish lasting approaches and strategies which can continue in the years following the programme.

Beth Barnes, National Numeracy’s Schools & Families Programme manager, said:
“Maths Week Wales is a fantastic time to celebrate all that is valuable about numbers. This year, National Numeracy’s Schools & Families programme has expanded to reach even more pupils, school staff, parents and carers in Wales.
“We’re proud that together, we’re helping to build number-confident communities, supporting people to fulfil their potential at school, work and home.”
