What are our friends and ambassadors up to for National Numeracy Day?

National Numeracy Day on 21 May is just a few weeks away! Here's a quick run-down on all the exciting things our friends and ambassadors are doing to support this year's campaign, and how you can get involved!

Ambassadors

Bobby Seagull

TV maths whizz and teacher Bobby Seagull is busier than ever this National Numeracy Day! This year he's hosting our live assembly where he'll guide you and your primary school through a choose-your-own-adventure picnic – tune in at 9:30am to join the fun. There's also the Number Heroes Competition, where once again Bobby will be choosing the lucky winners. And if that wasn't enough, for secondary schools he's teaming up with fellow maths teacher and podcaster Susan Okereke to make a lesson plan and lesson starter video for 11-14s; sign up to get it sent to your inbox.

Denise Welch

Actress and broadcaster Denise Welch is our latest ambassador to join the team, and this is her first National Numeracy Day! Her openness about her struggles with maths reached thousands of people through TV and social media. Now she is the face of our #BigNumberNatter where she will be talking to some of her famous friends to hear how they really feel about maths and numbers.

Harry Baker

As well as being a World Slam Poetry Champion Harry Baker is the star behind our wonderful National Numeracy Day Rap. He's also back with our Maths Rap activities produced in collaboration with Times Tables Rock Stars.

Katya Jones

Strictly champion Katya Jones is back with her cowboy-inspired dance routine to get school children up and moving as part of National Numeracy Day. Don't forget to share your dance on social media using #NationalNumeracyDay!

Katya will also be joining in with the money theme on social media, so keep an eye on her Instagram. And throughout the month she'll be joining our volunteers and helping to inspire young people with number confidence.

Martin Lewis

The UK's Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis, is back for another National Numeracy Day, to once again bring you top-notch advice and take-home tips. This year as part of the Money Edition of National Numeracy Day, he will be spreading the word through an exclusive video focusing on the importance of numeracy for money management. Keep an eye on our social media channels! We'll also be in his weekly newsletter so keep an eye out for that if you're a subscriber.

Rotimi Merriman-Johnson

Mr MoneyJar, AKA Rotimi Merriman-Johnson, is once again sharing some resources for your primary and secondary school children to use to build their number skills with money. He'll also be helping us with getting the word out on TV and social media, so keep your eyes peeled!

Content creators 

Our mission is to spread the word on the UK's numeracy issue far and wide, so we've invited a range of content creators to add their thoughts and feelings around this year's theme: maths and money management!

Anna Rozanska (aka Panda Boss)

Anna is a Chartered Accountant and content creator sharing her love of personal finance, investing, and generally 'bossing' life through her 'Panda Boss' channels. One very cool thing Anna has used maths and money for is building her own house! We're so excited she'll be joining in this year, make sure you keep an eye on her YouTube channel for a special National Numeracy Day video.

Brook Tate 

Brook is a painter and musical theatre maker who turned his skills and unique perspective towards maths and numbers! His method, Multicolour Maths, has featured on the TV and in magazines, and is now widely used in primary schools. Brook has created a free workbook for National Numeracy Day that schools can get by signing up. Keep an eye out on social media for more!

Cameron Smith (aka Cazza Time)

This ex-Cyber Security Consultant is on a mission to help us master our money! Cameron is another amazing creator helping us to spread the word for our first-ever themed National Numeracy Day. Tune in to hear him talk about why building our everyday maths skills and number confidence is so key to managing our money.

Sam Egerton-Kemp (Deaf Chef)

We care deeply about accessibility, and want to help our message reach as many people as possible. Sam Egerton-Kemp aka the 'Deaf Chef' will be joining us for another year with a National Numeracy Day 'sign of the day' special. We can't wait to learn how to say 'Money' and 'Maths' in British Sign Language!

Ellie Sleightholm

This mathematician is a true voice for STEM and we love learning how numbers play a part in our universe through her. Ellie joins us for the first time, so buckle up for not one, but two videos! Ellie will be sitting down to chat through all the ways we use maths every single day - she's got lots of exciting thoughts to share.

Gabriel Nussbaum 

Who could be better to talk about money than a personal finance content creator, with his own radio show! Gabriel will be sharing his take on this year's theme and it's sure to make maths for money both digestible and fun. If you want to get comfortable enough with numbers to start managing your own money, Gabriel could be your guy!
