Over the summer we joined the CBeebies Roadshow which toured cities across the UK. Children and parents were able to meet stars from Cbeebies programmes and take part in a host of activities to encourage numeracy and literacy.
There were over 100,000 visitors over the 8 weekends and we were there with the message 'Get moving, get maths'. Activities included measuring yourself against Mr Bloom, counting as you bounce, a Number Gym and much more. Plus we even had the chance to perform our 'Get moving, get maths' workout on the main stage!
During the event we overheard and collected lots of great insights about how people feel about maths and below are a selection.
"I never thought I'd need it - I was so wrong!"
"I remember my mum saying to me "Oh I was no good at maths" parents pass on their problems to their kids."
"Maths is everywhere."
"That sounds good [the National Numeracy Challenge] I said this morning I should do something about my maths."
Listen to CBeebies presenter Alex Winters talking about our numeracy tent (watch from around 1:00).
If you came along and were unable to pick up a leaflet you can download a copy here.
You can also download our activity hand out for kids. Great for the summer!
If you need even more ideas to support your child's numeracy learning, take a look at our parents and carers page which also includes ideas for actvities.
