Lewisham Libraries support the National Numeracy Challenge

Lewisham Libraries support the National Numeracy Challenge

National Numeracy are delighted to be working with Lewisham Libraries to explore how the National Numeracy Challenge can work best in a library setting.

On Wednesday 25th June we spent a hugely successful day with the team at Catford Library and representatives from Community Education Lewisham promoting the Challenge Online to council staff and to the public (see photo above with Antonio Rizzo and Councillor Chris Best).

Many library staff have already taken part in the Challenge and the library will now be promoting our interactive workbook so that some can become Challenge Champions and help support others taking the Challenge. The library will also continue to promote the Challenge at forthcoming community events.

Antonio Rizzo, Head of Library & Information Services, London Borough of Lewisham has strongly supported the Challenge since it was piloted in 2014. He is committed to roll it out beyond libraries, across all of the council services to employees and all of Lewisham's residents. We will be case studying this leadership and pioneering approach, and hope to use this to engage the other London boroughs, as well as profiling them nationally.
